Ever wanted that feeling of being a peerless spy who gets all the women by driving the coolest cars like James Bond?
Well let’s start with the Aston Martin Vanquish, it was introduced by the British manufacturer as a grand tourer in 2001 and the successor to the Vantage (1993-2000). These first generation 5.9L V12’s designed by Ian Callum, hand-built in conjunction with the Ford Motor Company were produced from 2001 to 2007.
A specially modified V12 Vanquish was driven by James Bond in the 2002 film Die Another Day. But, it was in 2004 that a slightly upgraded version of this car, named the “V12 Vanquish S” was introduced at the Paris Motor Show featuring a more highly tuned engine and track-oriented ride and handling. Other visual features were new wheels, new nose shape, raised boot or trunk with integrated spoiler and Vanquish S badging. It also added a small splitter on the front to help reduce drag and create downforce for the added speed that was given to the car by a higher gear ratio 6-speed automated manual or manual transmission.
The V12 Vanquish S also incorporated the features of the optional Sports Dynamic Package available for the Vanquish in the 2004 model year. This included stiffer suspension, revised steering, and larger brakes. The front discs had the six-piston calipers and rear discs had four-pistons. With all these performance upgrades the V12 Vanquish S with 520hp could reach speeds of 200mph. There were just over 1000 of these cars made in 2 body style options that included a 2-door coupe or the 2-door 2+2 coupe.
